O*Town Harmony concert, Nov. 1

O*Town Harmony, an all-female quartet, will perform at Tuskawilla Presbyterian Church on Sunday, Nov. 1, 7:00 p.m. This energetic and entertaining quartet sings various styles of a cappella and accompanied music, including jazz, pop, contemporary Christian, Broadway, and traditional. This concert will feature songs from throughout the ages done in a combination of new arrangements and classical styles.

 

O*Town Harmony has performed in major theme parks and for a range of events around Central Florida. No charge; freewill offering will be taken; reservations not required. Please bring a non-perishable food item for Second Harvest Food Bank.

Internet Safety for Parents & Kids, Nov. 10

Internet Safety for Parents and Kids presented by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Tuskawilla Presbyterian Church.

 

The SCSO Economic & Computer Crimes Unit, Crimes Against Children Unit, and Crime Prevention Unit will host a computer/internet safety event for parents, grandparents, guardians and kids 3rd grade through high school. The sessions will run simultaneously, with adults in the sanctuary and kids in Fellowship Hall. Child care for infants and toddlers will be available.

 

Both groups will learn about crime on the internet, electronic communication (email, IM, chat, mobile phones, etc), peer to peer networks, and social networking sites. Children will not be allowed to attend the adult-only event as parental monitoring tactics will also be discussed. No charge; reservations not required. Open to the community.

TPC Business, Recreation, & Networking Directory

 

The Communication Team is creating a TPC Business, Recreation, & Networking Directory to help our members learn more about one another. The directory features both business and social categories, so you can use it to find someone to repair something in your home, provide a professional service, or who shares your social interests.

The idea for this directory was born when a member of our team needed some work done on her house and said, "Is there a TPC member I can hire to do this? I'd rather use a church member than a stranger."

Then the idea expanded to include personal/social interests, so if, for example, you play tennis, you can find others in our congregation who do so as well.

Listings are open to members only and include name, phone number, and e-mail address (home addresses will not be included). No paid advertising is accepted. Inclusion under a particular category does not constitute an endorsement by TPC or guarantee any results. Printed and electronic copies will be available through the church; this directory will not be made available on the website to protect the privacy of our members.

On the business side, we are encouraging youth who babysit, petsit, or do odd jobs to earn extra money to include themselves, but they must have a parent's permission to be listed.

The first directory will be available for distribution by the end of and will be updated at least twice a year.

Facing the Giants

Shiloh Christian Academy may be a great school, but it has a so-so football team. In fact, Coach Grant Taylor has not had a single winning season in the six years he's been in charge. So when a star running back transfers to a cross-town rival, it's all but guaranteed that the upcoming seventh season will be the same as all the others. That's just one of the things that are weighing Taylor down. His car won't run. There’s a foul odor on his home and he and his wife, Brooke, are facing the prospect that they can't have children. Unknown yet to Coach and his team is a post-season match-up against the state's most feared squad, the undefeated Giants, led by a bulldog of a coach who is used to chewing up rivals as frequently as he does the lollipops perpetually stuck in his mouth. But Facing the Giants is more than a simple David-and-Goliath metaphor on the gridiron. This film tells the story of faith in the face of long odds and the need to align our priorities with God's.

 

Gentle Christian Yoga - Classes on Monday Afternoons & Thursday mornings

Join Karen Gray, Certified Hatha Yoga instructor, on Mondays, 4:30-5:30 po.m., and Thursdays, 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. as she guides you through gentle yoga, using breathing techniques, postures, and relaxation while quoting scripture. Newcomers and beginners are welcome to these slow, gentles, and restorative classes designed for self-care, mindfulness, and ease.

 

This one-hour Hatha Level One Yoga class is geared toward beginners and designed for toning the muscles, as well as improving balance and circulation with little impact on the joints. Learn to breathe deeply, become more flexible, and build strength. Begin your day in a health, relaxed way. Bring your mat and wear loose-fitting clothes.

AV Team needs a computer operator

We have an immediate opening for a computer operator on the AV Team for the 11:00 a.m. service.

 

The only skill required is the ability to click a mouse. You follow along with a script and advance the slides that appear on the screens in the sanctuary as appropriate.

 

We have several people who do this and our goal is to keep enough people trained so that no one has to “work” more than one or two Sundays a month.

 

Training is free and fast! If you’d like more information, contact John Overbey at 407-695-7055 or joverbey@cfl.rr.com. If you’d like to sit in the sound booth and observe for a Sunday before deciding, you are welcome.

TPC Work Party and BBQ - Saturday, June 13

It's time to get down and get dirty!!!

 

Join us on Saturday,  June 13, at 8:00 a.m. for the first in a series of TPC work parties that are going to make our campus look fabulous!!!

 

We'll be clearing out old plants, fixing irrigation, re-grading and installing drainage, and spreading new ground cover around the Sanctuary and activities buildings in preparation for new paint and landscaping. No skills necessary! We'll find something you can do.

 

Meet in the main breezeway at 8:00 a.m. We'll work until noon, then enjoy a delicious BBQ lunch.

VBS Work Party - Sat. June 6

Discovery Class begins May 24

Discovery Class - you were formed for a family. Join us as we discover the meaning of church membership. Classes begin May 24 and continue every Sunday through June 21.  They will be conducted during the Sunday School time of 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM in the conference room located in the church office building. 

Rent-a-Youth to help them raise money for summer conference

Please help our youth raise funds to attend the summer youth conference in Daytona in July by hiring them for jobs such as household chores, gardening, mowing, and babysitting.

Make your check payable to the church and indicate it is for the youth fundraiser.
