A Study of David: Women's Bible Study begins Jan. 14

Bible Study: Anointed, Transformed and Redeemed: a Study of David.

 

Start the New Year with Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer and Kay Arthur taped during one of their Deeper Still events. You’ll laugh with them, cry with them, and learn to love God with them. These authors’ messages are divided into three segments, two lessons each. Each segment focuses on the life of David at a different stage of his life: as a young man (by Priscilla Shirer), as a middle-aged man (by Beth Moore), and as a man facing the final third of his life (by Kay Arthur).

 

The study is on Thursday mornings, 10:00 a.m. to noon, beginning Jan. 14, in the McDonald Room in the Administration Building. Cost is $13 for the book. Child care will be available. Women's Ministries Grand Opening Jan. 10

The TPC Women’s Ministries (formerly known as Presbyterian Women or PW) will host its grand opening on Saturday, Jan. 16, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., in Fellowship Hall.

 

All of the women of the church are invited to join us for a few minutes or a few hours for a chance to relax and spend time with your sisters in Christ, enjoying a variety of fun activities and learning about TPC’s Women’s Ministries.

 

Scheduled activities include cooking demonstrations, lunch, mini pedicures, bunko, knitting, bow-making, and more.

 

No charge. Child care will be available.

Christmas Eve Services 5:30 & 8:00 p.m.

Angel Alert is a musical presented by the TPC Children and Youth Choirs on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2009, at 5:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Tuskawilla Presbyterian Church. The entire cast of angels (messengers) are all waiting to be told when they get to go to earth and make the grand announcement of the birth of Jesus. As they wait for the call they review God’s faithfulness through his promises and some of the prophecies about our Savior’s birth.

The Chancel Choir, TPC Players and Orchestra of Tuskawilla Presbyterian Church will present a Christmas Candlelight on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2009, at 8:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Tuskawilla Presbyterian Church. This musical tells about the arrival of our Savior, Jesus Christ, through the eyes of various people who give an account of this glorious occasion.

The Purpose of Christmas Bible Study

The Purpose of Christmas Bible Study -

This special three-week study will be offered twice a week

(Wednesday evenings and Thursday mornings) in December.

 

The Purpose of Christmas is a study by Rick Warren that discusses “A Reason for Celebration,” “Authentic Christmas,” and “When Our Plans Don’t Work Out.” The Wednesday evening class begins on Dec. 2 from 6:00-7:00 p.m.; the Thursday morning class begins on Dec. 3 from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Cost is $6; childcare is available. Classes will be held in the McDonald Conference Room and will run for three weeks.

Mugs & Muffins -- Join Women of the Church for fun, fellowship, food and crazy gift exchange. Youth Gleaning Retreat

The youth (grades 6-12) will be going on a gleaning retreat Dec. 4-5 in Eustis. They will glean oranges and worship with youth from other churches around Central Florida. The retreat begins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4 and ends Saturday, Dec. 5 at 4:00 p.m. Cost is $15 per person. Christmas in the City, Sun., Dec. 20

Christmas is coming again and so is Christmas in the City.  Christmas in the City is a Christmas party on Sunday, December 20 from 1-5pm to celebrate Christ’s birthday.  OneBody is putting on the event that will provide the ingredients for a Christmas dinner including a turkey and gifts for children of all ages for the poor, homeless and needy families of South Seminole County.  OneBody is a group of committed churches, of which Tuskawilla Presbyterian Church is one that are working together with The Hope Foundation to make a direct impact on poverty, hunger and homelessness in our community.  The Christmas in the City event will be at the Oviedo Aquatic Center at 148 Oviedo Blvd. in Oviedo.  Our own Pastor Chris will be one of the ministers blessing the food.

Want to become involved at TPC?  There are many ways to do that.  TPC has pledged to provide 30 bags of food for take-home Christmas dinners complete with turkeys.  We are also on line to provide as many $15 dollar gifts for kids of all ages as we can.  If you want to provide a bag of food, pick up a green/red food bag with the attached food list at church.  Fill it with the listed items and return it before December 10.  If you want to add a turkey to the bag or just donate a turkey, buy a $15 dollar gift card and bring it to church by December 15.  All the children’s gifts should be brought to the Narthex where a large box will be placed to gather them together.  Bring all $15 dollar gift cards (recommended for children 12 and older) to Karen Gray in the church office and tell her they are for Christmas in the City.  This year you can also buy a pre-made food bag at Publix (These bags do not include the whole list of foods for a Christmas dinner but are appreciated and convenient.  Leave these at Publix for pick up by volunteers).  We are also looking for donations of wrapping paper, gift bags, tape and bows so the children will receive wrapped gifts.  Please do not wrap the gifts.  Place these supplies in the box in the Narthex with the gifts.  TPC will be having a gathering on Saturday, December 12 from 9am-12pm to prepare our donations to be sent to the event.  If you want to volunteer for this team, sign up on the bulletin board.

Hanging of the Greens, Nov. 22

Hanging of the Greens, Sunday, Nov. 22, 4:00 p.m.

Celebrate the beginning of Advent at this family event that begins with lighting the Advent candle, hanging Christmas banners and wreaths, trimming the tree (the children get to place the chrismons on the 14 ft. tree in the sanctuary), and singing familiar Christmas carols. When the sanctuary is prepared for Advent, we will move to Fellowship Hall for a casual potluck dinner.  

The community is invited and there is no charge.
