Internet Safety for Parents & Kids, Nov. 10

Internet Safety for Parents and Kids presented by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 6:30-7:30 p.m., Tuskawilla Presbyterian Church.

 

The SCSO Economic & Computer Crimes Unit, Crimes Against Children Unit, and Crime Prevention Unit will host a computer/internet safety event for parents, grandparents, guardians and kids 3rd grade through high school. The sessions will run simultaneously, with adults in the sanctuary and kids in Fellowship Hall. Child care for infants and toddlers will be available.

 

Both groups will learn about crime on the internet, electronic communication (email, IM, chat, mobile phones, etc), peer to peer networks, and social networking sites. Children will not be allowed to attend the adult-only event as parental monitoring tactics will also be discussed. No charge; reservations not required. Open to the community.

Wondrous Wednesdays Begin Sept. 16

 

Our Wondrous Wednesday program is a mid-week, something-for-everyone service and fellowship time for the entire family.

 

The fall 2009 program begins on Wed., Sept. 16, and runs through Nov. 18. The schedule for this fall’s Wondrous Wednesdays is:

 

4:30-5:30 p.m. – Children’s activities, including playground/fellowship time and a class for K-5th graders

4:30-5:00 p.m. – Youth liturgical dancers

5:00-5:30 p.m. – Youth Choir

5:30-6:00 p.m. – Dinner

6:00-6:30 p.m. – Liturgical dance or guitar lessons for K-5th graders

6:00-7:00 p.m. – Youth Bible study

6:00-7:00 p.m. – Adult Bible study

6:30-7:00 p.m. – Children’s choir

7:00-7:30 p.m. – Joyful Sound rehearsal

7:30-8:30 p.m. – Chancel choir rehearsal

TPC Book Club, fourth Tuesday

The TPC Book Club meets the fourth Tuesday of every month from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. in the library. The group chooses both fiction and non-fiction books to read. Selections include bestsellers as well as old favorites. Discussions are fun, friendly, and thought-provoking.

Open Forum Begins NOOMA series May 31

Beginning Sunday May 31 the Open Forum will be using DVD-based discussion materials by Rob Bell called NOOMA. They are short DVD presentations with discussion questions on interesting one-word topics. The first two are "Name" and "Luggage". They were originally marketed to youth and young adults but are quite engaging for all ages.  

 

Rob Bell is the pastor of a church in Grandville, MI where 11,000 people worship each Sunday.

 

The Open Forum class meets in the room at the front of the church off Fellowship Hall (the original narthex) at 10:00 a.m. on Sundays.

Steeple People Summer Class: Discovering the Bible

Discovering the Bible: The adventure that lasts a lifetime!

 

A simple introduction to the Bible, what it is, how we got it, and how to use it.

Study runs June 7 through Sept. 6 in the Steeple People adult Sunday school class.

The Steeple People class meets on Sunday mornings in the library in the administration building from 10:00 to 10:45. Bring your coffee and a snack from Fellowship Hall if you like.

The Connection Event Schedule

The Connection: 45+ Singles Dinner May 16

The Connection (for Christian singles 45+) will gather for dinner Saturday, May 16, 4:30 p.m. at Romano's Macaroni Grill (Red Bug & Tuskawilla Rds).

We'll be ordering from the menu and will be responsible for paying our own checks.

Celebrate the Gifts of Women

Celebrate the Gifts of Women on Sunday, March 8.

During both services, the gifts and contributions of women will be recognized, Rev. Stacy Chandler will preach, and the honor of a Presbyterian Women Lifetime Membership will be awarded to a TPC member.

After the 11:00 a.m. service, we will gather in Fellowship Hall for a special luncheon, where we will recognize the artistic talents of TPC women. Join us to see what special creative gifts some of our sisters in Christ have been blessed with.

A delicious meal will be prepared by our own Tom Baccus. The cost is $10 for adults, $4 for children (maximum $30 per family). Childcare will be available. Searching for Heaven on Earth: Wednesday Evening Bible Study

Our Wondrous Wednesday Adult Bible Study begins Jan. 14, 6:00-7:00 p.m., in the McDonald Conference Room.

This study is based on the book Searching for Heaven on Earth by Dr. David Jeremiah and will be led by Art McGuigan. The cost is $10 for the study guide. Bring your payment to the first class.
